New Dawn Appealing Former Holy Angels Assessment

New Dawn Enterprises is appealing a tax assessment of the former Holy Angels High School property in Sydney, today.

The Eltuek Arts Centre and the New Dawn Centre for Social Innovation now occupy the property that’s had its tax assessment grow by ten times after major renovations in recent years.

In 2022, the Nova Scotia Assessment Appeal Tribunal ruled it doesn’t have the jurisdiction to change the assessed value of the property in the way New Dawn is requesting.

In its notice of appeal, New Dawn says it’s a non-profit organization, and says the renovations done at the property don’t reflect the group’s financial circumstances.

The appeal is being heard at the Holiday Inn in Sydney starting at 10:00 this morning.
