SIRT Investigating Man’s Arrest In CB

 

The province’s police watchdog is investigating after they say a man was injured when he was arrested by Cape Breton Regional Police.

The Serious Incident Response Team says it was contacted by Regional Police on Wednesday of last week.

It says preliminary information suggests police were doing surveillance on a man as part of on ongoing investigation, and they found him in a vehicle on a dead-end street.

It also says the information suggests there was a struggle during the arrest, and the man sustained serious injuries to his face and a fractured elbow.

The SIRT says its assumed responsibility for the investigation because of the serious injuries.

It’s not giving any more details about the case.
