NS Seeking Vendors For School Lunch Program

The province is looking for vendors to support the new school lunch program coming to elementary schools this fall.

The Department of Education says requests for proposals started being put out today to support schools that need a third-party provider to prepare and serve lunches.

It says priority will be given to vendors using local suppliers and businesses when sourcing ingredients and supplies.

The Department says it worked with schools, regions, vendors and volunteers throughout the spring to understand what’s needed in schools to offer the new program.

It says that work informed how the program will be delivered in each school – whether with on-site or off-site food providers, or operated by the school.
