Start Of Argentia Run Delayed Because Of Problem With New Ferry

Marine Atlantic is delaying the start of its Argentia run until June 26th because of mechanical problems with its new ferry, the Ala’suinu.

The Crown Corporation says it’s identified a problem with the ferry’s lubrication system and the delay is needed in order to fix the problem.

In the meantime, customers booked on the Argentia service will be re-routed to the Port aux Basques crossing.

To accommodate the extra customers on that route, extra crossings are being added between June 14th and 25th.

The Ala’suinu arrived in North Sydney in April after sailing from the shipyard in China where it was built.
