Marine Atlantic says it’s investigating a mechanical problem with its new ferry and the vessel may not come into service as soon as planned.
The Crown Corporation says in recent days technicians found a problem with the lubrication system on board the Ala’suinu.
It says technicians will be doing a full review over the next few days and the Corporation will work with the vessel’s owner, Stena North Sea Ltd., to identify and correct problems as quickly as possible.
The ferry was expected to start sailing on June 14th but Marine Atlantic says it doesn’t know if the mechanical problem will change that.
It says an update on the status of the vessel will be provided early next week.
