The provincial government says it’s decided there will be no spring bear hunt at this time.
The province says results of a public consultation clearly show Nova Scotians care deeply and are very divided on the idea of a spring bear hunt.
It says more than 17,000 people responded to a recent online survey.
The government says about 51 per cent were against a spring bear hunt, 47 per cent were in favour and two per cent were neutral.
The Department of Natural Resources also got 134 emails and letters from people and 10 letters from organizations and most of that feedback didn’t support a spring bear hunt.
