CB Jobless Rate Up

Stats Canada says Cape Breton’s Unemployment Rate was 12.3% last month.

That compares to 12.1% in February and 10.6% in March of last year.

Nationally, the jobless rate went up to 6.1% following a reading of 5.8% in February.

Statscan says the increase was driven by a higher number of people looking for work or on temporary layoff.
