Four CBRM Organizations Get Fiona Recovery Fund Money

Sydney-Victoria MP Jaime Battiste announced a total of 6.4 million dollars today for four Cape Breton organizations through the federal government’s Hurricane Fiona Recovery Fund.

The Cape Breton Regional Municipality is getting $1.2 million to buy a generator and carry out electrical upgrades at Centre 200 so it can function as a comfort centre during future extreme weather events.

Harness Racing Cape Breton got 99-thousand dollars to replace a scoreboard in October that was damaged beyond repair by Fiona.

The Baille Ard Recreation Association is getting $20,000 to buy equipment to repair the trail system after significant damage from the storm.

And, Canadian Maritime Engineering Ltd. in North Sydney is getting nearly $4.9 million to rebuild a wharf, breakwater and piers damaged by Fiona.
