Deadline Extended For Tax Exemption

Regional Councillors voted to approve a one-time extension of the deadline for the low income property tax exemption at this morning’s council meeting.

The deadline has been extended to March 31st of this year for the 2023 fiscal year.

The move comes after the program got about 50 percent fewer applications by the original December 31st deadline compared to the last fiscal year.

The exemption is a maximum of $300 for people whose yearly family income is less than $35,000.
