New Glasgow Legionella Outbreak Declared Over

Public Health says it’s declaring a Legionella outbreak in the New Glasgow area over.

It says there are no new cases of infections of the bacteria in several weeks.

10 cases associated with the outbreak were confirmed by lab testing, and 22 were considered probable.

Public Health says no further Legionella bacteria has been detected in the cooling tower at the Aberdeen Hospital and the tower has been turned back on.

It says it continues to await testing results to determine whether the Legionella bacteria found in the tower is the same type that caused illness in a confirmed case.
