NS Gets Second LifeFlight Plane

Health Minister Michelle Thompson has announced the province now has a second LifeFlight plane to bring patients from Sydney and Yarmouth to Halifax.

The Health Department says the plane will carry two to four patients per trip and will begin service next week.

It says the service starts with three round trips a day but the number is expected to increase over time.

The Department goes on to say the new plane will mean up to 12 ambulances a day will be staying in communities.

The projected cost of the new service is $5.9 million a year.
