Provincial Flood Disaster Financial Assistance Program Now Open For Applications

The province says people whose property was damaged by severe flooding on the weekend can now apply for disaster financial assistance,

The government says its Disaster Financial Assistance Program is designed to help Nova Scotians and municipalities as well as small businesses and not-for-profit organizations get back on their feet after a major storm or natural disaster.

The program covers up to $200,000 in uninsurable losses per household, small business and not-for-profit organization.

People can apply to the program online through the provincial government website, at Access Nova Scotia centres and MLA offices.

The government says people should keep all receipts, take pictures and video of any damage and work with their insurance companies.
