CB Groups Getting Energy Efficiency Funding

Two Cape Breton groups are getting provincial money to support energy efficiency projects.

New Dawn Enterprises is getting about $776,000 for upgrades at its Centre for Social Innovation in Sydney, while the Cape Breton Community Housing Association is getting over $200,000 for heat pumps and the removal of oil heating at homes.

Provincial Environment Minister Tim Halman made the announcement in Sydney today.

The province has also announced $343,000 for Dalhousie University researchers looking into the effects of climate change on groundwater, including in the Regional Municipality.

The three projects are the first to get money through the province’s Sustainable Communities Challenge Fund.
