Funding Announced For Youth Services Sites

The Minister responsible for the Office of Addictions and Mental Health Brian Comer announced $3.2 million today for the establishment of eight new Integrated Youth Services sites in the province.

The Cape Breton East MLA says the sites will provide a range of services from mental health services, such as counselling and peer support, to social services, such as housing and income assistance.

They will serve people between the ages of 12 and 25.

The government says a team from IWK Health’s mental health and addictions program will lead the initiative and will soon begin community information sessions across the province.

Each health zone is getting two of the Youth Services sites with the first one expected to open by March of next year.
