The province says it’s spending $17 million to fund 60 new or expanded clinics to help people get access to primary care.
17 of those locations are in the Health Authority’s Eastern Zone that includes Cape Breton.
Among them will be a new Collaborative Family Care Team being set up in Sydney in the summer of next year and a newcomer clinic at Cape Breton University that’s scheduled to open this summer.
The province says it’s also strengthening primary care clinics in Sydney, North Sydney and New Waterford.
It’s also reminding people they can access primary care through VirtualCareNS, mobile primary care clinics, 811 and some community pharmacies.
