No Injuries In Donkin Mine Fire

No injuries are being reported after a fire at the Donkin Mine last night.

The provincial Labour Department says there were no workers underground when the fire happened.

It adds a stop work order has been issued for the mine as a precaution.

Area Councillor James Edwards tells reporters it’s believed the fire started on an underground conveyer belt.

The Labour Department said last night the fire was under control.

There’s no word yet on the extent of the damage.

The mine’s operator Kameron Coal has yet to comment publicly on the fire.
