Regional Council has put off discussion on how to deal with a 4.2 million dollar shortfall in the operating budget.
The move comes after CAO Marie Walsh told councillors at budget talks this morning the province is willing to work with the municipality as Council grapples with how to deal with the deficit.
Mayor Amanda McDougall says she’s confident the province will agree to come to a special arrangement with the CBRM just as it does with the Halifax Regional Municipality.
Council did vote this morning to pass the capital budget that is balanced.
Councillors also voted to bring in fees for freedom of information requests for police traffic collision and reconstruction reports.
