Teen Arrested In Shooting Hoax Investigation

Regional Police say they’ve charged a 16-year-old for comments made about a school shooting hoax.

They say the charges come after the officers linked the youth to what they’re calling “concerning information” they got through InterPol.

Police say they were told about comments made on YouTube regarding potential plans for a school shooting that were connected to an IP address in the area.

They say an investigation led to a search warrant to seize electronic devices from a home in Dominion yesterday.

The teen was arrested at the home and has been remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre.

They’re charged with a Hoax Regarding Terrorist Activity as well as two breaches of court orders on the use of electronic devices.

Police say their investigation continues, but there’s no legitimate threat to public safety at this time.
