Arrest Made After Shot Fired In We’koqma’q

RCMP say an 18-year-old man has been arrested after a vehicle was hit by gunfire in We’koqma’q First Nation early this morning.

They say they got a call at about 1:30 about a shot being fired in the area of Dooley’s Lane and another call a few minutes later reported a vehicle was hit by a bullet while driving on the 105 Trans Canada in the area.

Police say no one in the vehicle was hurt and they don’t think it was targeted.

They also say they’ve found the gun that was used in the shooting.

Police also say they responded shortly before 8:00 this morning to a report about an overnight break-in at a hardware store in Whycocomagh.

They say ammunition was taken from the store and the break-in is believed to be related to the shooting.
