The province says it’s partnering with not-for-profit research and innovation organization Mitacs to create up to 3,200 more paid internship opportunities for post-secondary students over the next four years.
It says it’s offering $13 million in funding that will leverage contributions from the federal government and participating organizations.
The government says students taking part in the internships will help local companies find solutions to some of the province’s most important challenges.
It says one example is post-secondary students helping Shannex use data to enhance seniors’ care.
The government says the extra funding for the internships is part of the additional appropriations included in the December budget update.
