Stepped Up Enforcement Of Parking In Fire Lanes At Regional Hospital

The Health Authority says security personnel at the Regional Hospital in Sydney have been granted special constable status to issue parking tickets to people who park in fire lanes surrounding the building.

The fine for a first offence of parking in a fire lane is $136, and goes up to $236 for a second offence and $436 for a third offence.

People who park in fire lanes can also have their vehicles towed at their expense.

Nova Scotia Health says the canopy at the main entrance of the Regional Hospital is designated for patient pick-up and drop-off.

It says temporarily leaving a vehicle in this area to make sure a passenger is safely inside the building is allowed but vehicles should be relocated to the parking lot as soon as possible.
