RCMP Warning Of Tire Scam

Cheticamp RCMP is warning business owners about a scam targeting tire businesses.

The Mounties say a tire shop in the Cheticamp area lost 55-hundred dollars to the scam.

They say the shop got an order for tires from someone in Montreal.

Police say after the tires were shipped and confirmed received, the tire shop was notified the payment had been cancelled and it couldn’t get in touch with the buyer.

RCMP say the buyer did the same thing to other tire shops in Prince Edward Island, Manitoba and Alberta, resulting in losses of more than $20,000 combined.
