Barney’s River Fire Department Loses Thousands Of Dollars Worth Of Rescue Equipment In Break-in

Pictou County RCMP say the Barney’s River volunteer fire department lost about 35-thousand dollars worth of rescue equipment in a break-in.

The Mounties say the break-in is believed to have happened between 11:00 last Wednesday night and 11:00 on Sunday night.

The stolen items include a Jaws of Life, saws, cutters and an electric ram.

Police say the equipment is essential for getting people out of vehicles after crashes and gaining entry to buildings.

They say the front door of the fire hall was also damaged during the break-in.
