Regional Police Officer Facing Assault Charges

The province’s police watchdog says a Cape Breton Regional Police officer is facing two charges of assault.

The Serious Incident Response Team says the charges against 52-year-old Cst. Lawrence Doucette were laid on Tuesday.

It says it was contacted by Regional Police on September 23^rd about a domestic assault against a woman by an officer.

The man was arrested and later released without charges.

One of the charges laid on Tuesday dates back to September 23^rd and the other dates back to July.

Doucette is due in Sydney Court on November 10^th.
