Regional Police Officer Facing Assault Charges

The province’s police watchdog says a Cape Breton Regional Police officer is facing two charges of assault.

The Serious Incident Response Team says the charges against 52-year-old Cst. Lawrence Doucette were laid on Tuesday.

It says it was contacted by Regional Police on September 23rd about a domestic assault against a woman by an officer.

The man was arrested and later released without charges.

One of the charges laid on Tuesday dates back to September 23rd and the other dates back to July.

Doucette is due in Sydney Court on November 10th.
