Pay Raise Announced For Early Childhood Educators

Early childhood educators in the province are getting a pay raise.

Early Childhood Development Minister Becky Druhan made the announcement in Dartmouth today.

Most of the 2,600 early childhood educators will see a wage increase in the range of 30 per cent going back to July 4th.

Today’s announcement comes after some daycare workers walked out at the start of the school year to protest how long it was taking to bring about a promised pay increase.

More money for workers in the sector is part of the federal government’s deal with the province to bring in $10 a day child care.
