CB Unemployment Up Slightly Over August

Stats Canada says Cape Breton’s unemployment rate was 9.3 percent last month.

That compares with an August jobless rate of 9.1 percent and an unemployment rate of 11.5 percent in September of last year.

Meanwhile, the national unemployment rate fell .2 of a percentage point to 5.2 percent in September.

The federal agency says the economy created 21,000 jobs last month.
