Daycare Workers Holding Day Of Action, Today

Daycare workers in the province are holding a walkout today over wages and staffing challenges.

The biggest demonstration is taking place outside the Department of Education offices in Halifax.

Staff who aren’t in Halifax are being encouraged to protest outside their workplace, the local MLA office, or to meet in a park.

The workers say they want an update on their wage scale and benefits package currently in development by the province.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Becky Druhan says it’s not necessary for the workers to take a day of action and she’s promising the roll out of higher wages as soon as possible.
