Poisonous Spiders Found On New Transit Cape Breton Bus

Transit Cape Breton’s main Welton Street garage was closed for fumigation yesterday after poisonous spiders were found in a bus.

The Regional Municipality says western black widow spiders were discovered in a bus delivered from California.

It says the bus travelled through Ontario before arriving in Sydney.

Black widow spiders are the most poisonous spider in North America with their venom about 15 times stronger than rattlesnake venom.

The municipality says the fumigation effort is not affecting transit services.
