Union For Inside Workers Takes Out Full Page Ad

The union for inside workers in the Regional Municipality has taken out a full page newspaper ad as contract talks stall.

In the ad, the Canadian Union of Public Employees accuses the municipality of refusing to negotiate what it calls a fair collective agreement for the members of CUPE Local 933.

CUPE says it’s looking for the same wage offer for inside workers as given to outside workers as well as the same shift differential given to outside workers.

Meanwhile, Mayor Amanda McDougall says the inside workers are being treated equally fair as the outside workers.

Both sides are scheduled to meet with a conciliation officer on September 9th and the union says the inside workers will then be in in a legal strike position if those talks fail.
