Mira Gut Bridge Opening

The new Mira Gut Bridge is officially opening today.

Cape Breton East MLA and Cabinet Minister Brian Comer will be on hand for the event, along with Regional Mayor Amanda McDougall and Cape Breton-Canso MP Mike Kelloway.

The old bridge was torn down for safety reasons five years ago, causing drivers in the area to have to take long detours.

Traffic started moving over the new bridge last weekend.

The official opening ceremony will take place on the Hornes Road side of the bridge at 1:00 this afternoon.
