Police Investigating Man’s Death In Sydney Mines

A man is in custody as Regional Police investigate what they’re calling a suspicious death in Sydney Mines.

The man who died is thought to have been assaulted on Beech Street early this morning.

Police say they were called to the area at about 3:30 and found a man lying on the road with serious injuries.

Officers gave the man CPR until paramedics arrived and he was brought to the Regional Hospital in Sydney where he was later pronounced dead.   

Police say a man was arrested after witness information led them to the area of Cambridge Street and Clyde Avenue.

There’s no word yet on any charges.

Police are calling the death an isolated incident and they say there’s no greater risk to public safety.
