$1.6 Million In Government Money For Miners Museum Phase 2

The province and Ottawa are each contributing 800-thousand dollars to the second phase of renovations at the Cape Breton Miners Museum in Glace Bay.

Phase 2 of the renovations includes upgrades to the lobby, the Men of the Deeps theatre, the lamphouse and the pre-tour area.

400-thousand dollars is also going to the project from fundraising and sponsorship through The Cape Breton Miners’ Foundation.

Phase 1 of the project was completed in March of last year.

It included exterior renovations, structural repairs, landscaping and a renewal of the museum’s displays.
