NS COVID-19 Paid Sick Leave Program Extended

The province has extended its COVID-19 Paid Sick Leave Program to May 7.

The program had been scheduled to end on March 31.

The extension means sick days between April 1 and May 7 may be eligible for reimbursement.

The program is open to employers and self-employed workers and covers wages for employees and self-employed workers, up to a maximum of $160 a day, with a maximum payment of $640 per worker.

People who already got the maximum payment since the program restarted in December are not eligible for more paid sick days during the extended period.

People who miss less than half of their scheduled work time in a week can apply if they need to quarantine because of exposure or close contact, or because they have symptoms and are getting tested.

They may also qualify if they’re going to a vaccine or booster appointment.
