COVID Restrictions Lifted

Nearly two years after declaring a state of emergency, the province has ended most of its COVID-19 rules.

Starting today, masking, physical distancing and gathering limits are no longer required in most places.

However, Premier Tim Houston announced last week mandatory masking will stay in schools for a few more weeks, based on recommendations made by pediatricians.

Some rules will also stay in place in high-risk settings like hospitals and long-term care homes.

While masking is no longer required, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang is advising people to wear masks in public places, especially in close quarters indoors.

Strang also recommends people keep limiting their social circles as community spread of COVID-19 continues.
