People Have Until March 21 To Comment On Proposed Taxi Fares Increase

People have until 4:00 in the afternoon on March 21st to comment on a proposed 30 percent increase in taxi fares in the Regional Municipality.

The municipality has given notice of a two week public hearing period on the by-law amendment.

The move comes after taxi company owners contacted several Regional councillors with concerns over rising costs, especially for fuel.

People can get a copy of the proposed by-law by contacting the clerk’s office.

The by-law to increase taxi fares will be brought for second and final reading to Council at a meeting that starts at 10:00 in the morning on March 25th.
