Health Authority Warning Of COVID Phone Scam

The provincial Health Authority is warning about a phone scam that appears to be from Public Health.

The robocall tells people they’ve tested positive for COVID-19 or they’re a close contact and people are then asked to call a number and provide personal information.

Public Health does not use automated calls to tell someone they’re a close contact.

It does use automated calls to provide test results but people will be asked to verify their identity with the last four digits of their health card and their birth date.

People will not be asked to call a number back to provide additional personal information.
