New Employment Services Announced For CB

The province says the YMCA will be expanding its employment services in Cape Breton.

The news comes after Island Employment in Sydney shut down in November following a damning report by the Nova Scotia ombudsman, who said the agency was misusing funds.

The Y and the French-language economic development group CDENE were the successful applicants to an expression of interest put out by the provincial Labour Department in October.

The Department says people in Sydney, Arichat, Chéticamp, Inverness, Port Hawkesbury and St. Peter’s will have access to the two groups’ services online or in person starting this month.
