Province Reporting COVID Death, 537 New Cases, Local School Exposures, Hospital Outbreak

The province is reporting another COVID-19 death today along with a record 537 new cases of the virus, exposures at two local schools and another hospital outbreak.

Health officials say the person who died was a man in his 50’s in the Northern Zone.

There have been exposures reported at Rankin School of the Narrows in Iona and Cape Smokey Elementary in Ingonish.

The outbreak being reported today is at Dartmouth General Hospital, where health officials say all patients are being closely monitored.  

Of the new cases reported today, 434 are in the Central Zone and 36 are in the Eastern Zone, with 44 in the Northern Zone and 23 in the Western Zone.

Ten people in the province are now in hospital with the virus, including three people in intensive care.
