NS Bringing Back Paid Sick Leave Program

The province says it’s relaunching its paid sick leave program next month to help workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

People who can’t work remotely and miss less than 50 per cent of their scheduled work time in a one-week period because of COVID-19 may be eligible for the program.

The province says full details will be provided online early in the new year.

The program is expected to relaunch on January 10th and run until March 31st and will be retroactive to include sick days starting from Monday of this week.

The program will cover wages up to a maximum of $20 an hour or $160 a day.

The maximum payment over the 15-week period is $640 per worker.

Eligible businesses that continue to pay their employees during their leave may be reimbursed by the program.
