The province is preparing to bring back some COVID-19 restrictions as it reports 114 new cases today and confirms the Omicron variant is now in Nova Scotia.
55 new cases of COVID-19 are being reported in the Central Zone today, with 52 in the Eastern Zone, five in the Western Zone, and two in the Northern Zone.
The province says the National Microbiology Lab has confirmed 40 cases of the Omicron variant in Nova Scotia.
It’s also reporting a COVID-19 outbreak at the Parkland Antigonish seniors home.
The province is putting a host of pandemic restrictions in place starting on Friday, including six-foot physical distancing indoors and outdoors, except among people in the same household or a consistent social group of up to 20 people.
There will also be more restrictions in long-term care homes, including a limit of two visitors at a time.
Starting tomorrow, restrictions are being put in place at public schools, including cancelling holiday concerts and having essential visitors only in schools.
