Construction Starts On Cancer Centre

Construction began today on the new Cape Breton Cancer Centre in Sydney.

The project at the Regional Hospital is part of a larger healthcare redevelopment project that includes a larger emergency department and critical care department.

New community health centres and long-term care homes in New Waterford and North Sydney and renovations at the Glace Bay Hospital are also part of the project.

Meanwhile, the Cape Breton Building Trades and Unionized Contractors have announced they’re giving $500,000 to the Cancer Care Here at Home Campaign.

The campaign has a goal of raising $10 million to support the new cancer centre.
