COVID-19 booster shots are being opened up to more groups by the end of the month.
The province says it’s adopting the National Advisory Committee on Immunization’s recommendations on booster shots.
The committee recommends booster doses be offered at least six months after the primary series is completed.
Groups eligible for a booster dose will include people aged 80 and over, followed by people aged 70 to 79, as well as adult frontline healthcare workers who were double vaccinated with a space of less than 28 days between their first and second doses and people who got two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine or one dose of the Janssen vaccine.
The province says it’s also speaking with Indigenous and African Nova Scotian communities on the best way to offer booster doses in those communities.
Planning for the booster doses is underway and the province says more information will be announced once booking for booster doses opens.
