Donkin man grows record-breaking giant pumpkin

It may not be Canada’s largest pumpkin, but Carl Graham’s nearly-one-ton specimen is the largest ever grown in Atlantic Canada.

The Donkin man’s gargantuan gourd, which he named Howard in tribute to Nova Scotia pumpkin-growing legend Howard Dill, weighed in at 1,956 pounds, just three pounds shy of the national record.

Graham broke his own record for Nova Scotia’s largest pumpkin; he grew an absolute behemoth of a pumpkin in 2012, which tipped the scales at 1,811 pounds.
