Former Cape Breton Capers men’s basketball star Phillip Nkrumah is facing several charges after a gunpoint robbery at an ATM cash refilling business in Toronto in April.
The 36-year-old Nkrumah faces 11 different charges including seven counts of careless storage of a firearm, seven counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and tampering with a serial number.
He’s also charged with three counts of possession of a prohibited device, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, and failing to comply with recognizance and probation.
Police say two masked men assaulted an employee of the cash refilling business just before nine the morning of April 1, forcing the employee to open safes.
The men loaded a clear bag with over 1-million dollars in cash and dragged it to a waiting car, losing some of the money along the way.
