More Funding Announced For NS Municipalities

Municipal Affairs Minister John Lohr has announced an extra $32 million in total funding for municipalities this fiscal year.

The move comes after Premier Tim Houston promised to double the payments from the province to municipalities while a new memorandum of understanding is negotiated.

The Cape Breton Regional Municipality had been getting $15 million a year from the province.

The province says the new money will be given to municipalities this fall through the Municipal Financial Capacity Grant and the Town Foundation Grant.
