17 New COVID Cases, 7 In Eastern Zone

The province is reporting 17 new cases of COVID-19 today.

Seven of those cases are in the Eastern Zone that includes Cape Breton.

Health officials say all of those cases are close contacts of earlier reported cases.

Nine of the cases reported today are in the Central Zone and one is in the Western Zone.

The province is reporting 28 recoveries today.

The total number of confirmed active cases is now 171, including 38 in the Cape Breton County Community Health Network and two in the Inverness, Victoria and Richmond Community Health Network.

There are now 17 people in the province in hospital with COVID-19, including 7 in intensive care.

Premier Iain Rankin and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang are scheduled to give another COVID-19 update at 3:00 tomorrow afternoon.
