Province Reports One Death, 40 New COVID Cases

The province is reporting another COVID-19 death today as well as 40 new cases of the virus and a renewal of the state of emergency.

The person who died was a woman in her 50’s in the Central Zone.

Five of the new cases are in the Eastern Zone that includes Cape Breton.

29 are in the Central Zone, four are in the Northern Zone and two are in the Western Zone.

92 recoveries are being reported today and the total number of confirmed active cases in the province is now 585.

That includes 111 cases in the Cape Breton County Community Health Network and one in the Inverness, Victoria and Richmond Community Health Network.

53 people in the province are now in hospital with the virus, including 18 in intensive care.

The state of emergency is being extended to June 13th.
