54 New COVID Cases, 15 In Eastern Zone

The province is reporting 54 new cases of COVID-19 today.

15 of those cases are in the Eastern Zone that includes Cape Breton.

35 are in the Central Zone, three are in the Northern Zone and one is in the Western Zone.

The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Robert Strang, says the cases in the Sydney area are largely among 20-30 year-olds and the virus doesn’t appear to be spreading widely outside that group.

There’s now a total of 846 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia, including 123 in the Cape Breton County Community Health Network and two in the Inverness, Victoria and Richmond Community Health Network.

There are now 72 people in the province in hospital with the virus, including 20 in intensive care.
