The province is reporting 118 new cases of COVID-19 today.

98 of the new cases are in the Central Zone, while 11 are in the Eastern Zone that includes Cape Breton.

Five of the cases are in the Western Zone and four are in the Northern Zone.

The province says public health is still working through a backlog of cases that have to be contacted and entered into the data system.

The total amount of confirmed active cases in the province has gone down slightly to 1,591 from 1,655 yesterday after some people recovered from the virus.

There are now 110 confirmed active cases of COVID-19 in the Cape Breton County Community Health Network and 21 in the Inverness, Victoria and Richmond Community Health Network.

64 people in the province are now in hospital with the virus, including 10 in intensive care.

Premier Iain Rankin and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang are scheduled to give another COVID-19 update at 3:00 tomorrow afternoon.
