Municipality Not Ready to Extend SHIP Agreement: McDougall

Regional Mayor Amanda McDougall says the municipality is not yet ready to extend its agreement with the group given exclusive rights to market Sydney as a potential site of a container terminal.

The statement comes after Regional Councillors met in-camera yesterday to discuss the agreement with Sydney Harbour Investment Partners (SHIP).

McDougall says she and council have more work to do before the agreement can be extended.

She also says she’s hoping to have more discussions with provincial and federal representatives about the proposed container terminal.

The agreement with SHIP is due to run until December.
